🌍 About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Staff Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and evolution of advanced electro-mechanical and automation systems within a highly regulated medical technology environment.

This role sits at the heart of engineering innovation — contributing to system architecture, driving electrical design excellence, ensuring compliance with international standards, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, scalable, high-performance solutions.

You’ll take ownership of electrical architecture, documentation, component selection, and testing across complex systems, while also influencing engineering best practices and contributing to next-generation platform development.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electro-mechanical systems, components, and assemblies

• Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions

• Define and implement technical requirements

• Create and maintain project plans

• Produce electrical schematics, wiring harness designs, and Bills of Materials

• Select and specify electrical components and technologies

• Perform electrical calculations, simulations, and technical evaluations

• Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers

• Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation (GDP)

• Conduct sample inspections and execute test plans

• Support continuous improvement in engineering standards and practices

🧠 Required Experience & Background

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline

• 10+ years of relevant industry experience

Core Technical Expertise

• Strong electrical systems design background

• Experience in system and reliability engineering

• Regulatory knowledge (e.g. Machinery Directive)

• EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) knowledge

• Risk assessment and safety analysis experience

• Familiarity with EN 60204-1 and IEC 61010-1 standards

Tools & Technologies

• SolidWorks (essential)

• SolidWorks Electrical or EPlan (highly desirable)

• MS Office (advanced proficiency)

• Jira and ERP systems (e.g., Sage) – advantageous

• MS Project (basic experience preferred)

Job Description

The AT Engineering organization is part of the Access Network Solutions business segment.

 

The AT product portfolio covers all Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) infrastructure products, including Optical Headend, Optical Nodes, RF active/passive products, and RF over Glass (RFoG) products, including Optical Network Units (ONU)/Multi Dwelling Units(MDU’s).

 

How You'll Help Us Connect the World

·        Work with a cross-functional team designing stand-alone and embedded power supplies for indoor and outdoor CATV equipment.

·        Responsible for electrical design from concept through production supporting related component engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain activities.

·        Perform electrical, thermal and DVT measurements at all stages of power supply development.

·        Responsible for modeling, breadboarding, and prototype development.

·        Responsibilities include sustaining engineering for existing power supplies.

·        Support manufacturing and supply chain activities for alternate component supplier qualification.

·        Required Qualifications for Consideration

·        A 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering

·        5+ years of engineering experience in switch-mode power supply design.

 

You Will Excite Us If You Have

·        Experience designing SMPS using circuit topologies such as Forward, Flyback, Buck, Boost, etc. for applications in ambitious environments.

·        Experience in designing and specifying magnetic components for SMPS designs.

·        Experience in the design of digital and analog power supply interfaces and controls.

·        Experience in power supply input and output noise mitigation

·        In-depth knowledge of discrete semiconductors and passive components.

·        Knowledge of electrical modeling and simulation programs.

·        Familiar with power supply EMC and safety requirements.

·        Knowledge of CATV HFC equipment is a plus.

·        Ability to deal effectively with all levels of personnel

·        Strong verbal and written communication skills.

·        Excellent computer and Microsoft Office skills.
