Overview

A leading organization is seeking a highly motivated Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer (Lead Mainframe Platform Engineer) to design, implement, and maintain critical mainframe systems. This role requires deep expertise in z/OS, DB2, IMS, CICS, MQ, and related technologies. The candidate will lead complex projects, troubleshoot critical issues, and mentor junior engineers while ensuring high availability and performance of mainframe environments. Strong collaboration, automation expertise (IBM Systems Automation), and disaster recovery planning skills are essential.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Define complex requirements, deliverables, and timeframes in collaboration with stakeholders.

  • Conduct root cause analysis to resolve infrastructure issues.

  • Lead technical training and mentor team members.

  • Ensure timely, budget-compliant completion of IT infrastructure projects.

  • Promote compliance with standards, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • 5-7 years of experience in Information Technology.

Preferred Experience:

  • Expertise in z/OS Mainframe Systems Programming (SMPE, DB2, IMS, CICS).

  • Experience resolving software and system issues with vendors.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Ability to work off-hours and participate in 24x7x365 on-call duties.

  • 10+ years of IBM z/Series mainframe experience.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Java Developer

  • DB2

  • Cognos

  • PEGA

  • Enterprise Architect (SCEA)

  • Project Management

Work Environment

  • Fully remote position.

  • Requires teamwork and occasional irregular work hours.

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $100,000 - $130,000

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an IT Project Leader to join the North American Rolled Products Team in Bettendorf, IA. This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for manufacturing, supply chain, and plant systems, with the ability to manage complex IT environments and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • IT Environment Management:

    • Oversee Davenport IT systems critical for supply chain, quality, and plant financial operations.

    • Manage application integrations between plant systems and corporate IT systems.

  • Team Leadership and Project Management:

    • Lead production support, project deployment, and offshore development teams to ensure timely, high-quality project deliveries.

    • Provide guidance to ensure the team's performance aligns with service level agreements (SLAs) and customer satisfaction targets.

    • Resolve team conflicts and escalate issues as needed.

    • Regularly communicate project status to stakeholders and project steering team.

  • Compliance and Risk Management:

    • Ensure all project solutions adhere to compliance standards (ITAR, DFARS, SOX, etc.).

    • Proactively manage risks associated with projects.

  • Budgeting and Capital Management:

    • Develop and manage capital budget requests and track expenses for responsible projects.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Partner with business leaders to prioritize project needs and ensure resources are appropriately allocated.

    • Foster strong collaboration with internal teams (procurement, finance, engineering) and third-party suppliers.

    • Contribute to compliance activities such as system testing, disaster recovery, and SOX audit requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar IT project management role.

  • Experience with B2B commerce partnerships and EDI deployments.

  • Knowledge of multiple project management methodologies.

  • U.S. person status due to ITAR compliance.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field.

  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or plant financial systems.

  • Demonstrated expertise in application support and operations management.

  • Technical skills:

    • SQL, PLSQL, COBOL, VB.Net, Java, or C#.

    • Working knowledge of database query tools (SQL Developer, SQL+).

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Creative and innovative problem-solving ability.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base Salary: $90,000 to $110,000 per year.
